We’ve been installing wireless alarm systems for decades. These systems have certainly come a long way from the single frequency, unsupervised systems of the 1970s.  However, as advanced as new systems are, they still have their limitations.
The systems Guard Tronic installs are manufactured in Springfield, MO by Digital Monitoring Products (DMP). They utilize spread spectrum technology and are UL Listed for the purpose. This technology is all but impossible to defeat because it uses multiple frequencies to transmit from the sensor to the control panel or wireless receiver or repeater. This is a far superior technology than those used by most DIY wireless systems.

We also highly recommend utilizing multiple communication paths between your security system and our UL Listed / FM Approved Central Station in Fort Smith, AR.  The wi-fi blockers mentioned in the article linked below could possibly block one of our systems’ paths, but the cellular would still be able to communicate the alarm, as well as the failed attempt of the wi-fi signal.
Burglars using wi-fi blockers to defeat alarm systems has been reported in Charolotte, NC, Phoenix, AZ, and now Los Angeles, CA.  If they continue to be successful in defeating security systems, you can expect the number to increase and the locations of these break-ins to spread across the US.
