Security system or toy?

There have been several high profile burglaries over the last few months.  In each instance, the burglars were more advanced than most security systems customers have anticipated.

Most small commercial and home security customers don’t expect “Mission Impossible” type burglaries to happen to them, because most don’t expect that they have anything valuable enough to go to those lengths to steal.  “Why would a professional thief risk going to prison for years to steal what I have in my home?”  Security is more than just catching a simple burglary while you are at work.

Just because you don’t keep $1,000,000,000.00 in jewelry in your home or small business doesn’t mean that you don’t need real security.

Many of the DIY systems or security systems that come bundled in a television/internet/security package aren’t meant to catch an experienced thief.  They may simply be made to see if your pet is in an area of your home they aren’t supposed to be in….like on the couch.  Many of the accolades that these systems quote in their advertising come from computer publications, not security industry publications or third party Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, like Underwriters Laboratories or Factory Mutual / FM Global.
