Did you recently build a new home or place of business and the new fire alarm system isn’t working properly?
The general contractor may have given you a one-year parts and labor warranty, but it doesn’t matter if the fire alarm contractor won’t service the system they installed just a few months ago.  Or perhaps the fire alarm contractor was an unlicensed, out-of-state company that refuses to return to service the system.
General contractors are usually required to include the necessary fire alarm system in your new facility. The fire alarm typically goes through an electrical contractor as hired by the general contractor, but may be specified by the architect or engineer.  With all of these companies having a hand in the finished product, THEY are the customer of the fire alarm company….not you, the building owner.
What this means for you:
- They will install the system as inexpensively as possible using the cheapest parts and keeping labor to a minimum. This will save the electrical contractor money and help him ensure he gets the job from the general contractor.
- They will install a subpar system that creates service calls (revenue) in the future. This helps the fire alarm contractor recoup any money lost by submitting a low-ball bid to the electrical contractor.
- They will use proprietary systems so you must hire them to inspect, test, and maintain the system or bear the expense of replacing the entire system.
- Inspection, testing, and maintenance of the system becomes less of a priority as their first allegiance is to the companies that hire them: the general or electrical contractor.
- They are paid by the electrical contractor or general contractor. Their allegiance will be to them, not to you, the end user of the fire alarm system.
The building owner is responsible for ensuring that the alarm system works properly. If the fire alarm contractor won’t fix the system, it is YOUR responsibility to find a company that will.
Guard Tronic has always placed a higher priority on service than installations. While this leads to a longer wait for new customers, we retain their trust once a system owner becomes our customer.  We believe that this is a big reason why we have been a trusted leader for over 63 years.
Are you tired of a non-functioning fire alarm system that shows fire trouble on a consistent basis?  Guard Tronic can either fix your fire alarm system or replace it and then maintain it per NFPA 72.
