DIY camera systems are readily available and typically easy to install.  But DIY cameras may not help when you need them most.
The states we serve are all one-party states for audio.  This means that one of the two parties involved in the recorded audio MUST know that they are being recorded. If two people break into your home, it is likely that, if the recording also contains audio, the video will NOT be admissible in court.  This is the primary reason that most professionally installed camera systems do not record audio.
Valid reasons for DIY cameras:
- Making sure the dogs stay off the furniture
- Making sure the cat didn’t knock the glass off the counter
- Making sure your inflatable decorations are working
Reasons for professionally installed cameras:
- To catch an intruder
- To provide evidence in a court of law
- To check on the welfare of loved ones
