Burglar alarm systems can’t prevent a break-in from taking place.
Fire alarm systems can’t prevent a fire from starting.
Both of these systems detect a result, but don’t protect from the event taking place.
Camera systems are used in two ways:
1 – As a covert system to catch an unwanted activity from a known source.
2 – As an overt deterrent to keep potential unwanted behaviors from happening.
An effective deterrent prevents or discourages crime. If a burglar sees cameras on your home or business they are 300% less likely to break-in*.  Burglars don’t want to be seen or identified, so easily identifiable cameras help ensure the burglar seeks another home or business to violate. The cameras should also be out-of-reach so the burglar cannot vandal them prior to breaking in.
Because most break-ins take place while no one is at the location, cameras should be used WITH a burglar alarm system.  The alarm will help time-stamp the event so it is easily found on the recorder. The burglar alarm system provides an additional deterrent to help motivate the criminal to find another home or business.
