If you Google “security system” from the Fort Smith area, you will get LOTS of options. Many will look something like:
“10 Best Security Systems in your area”
“Best Security Systems in Fort Smith”
“Best Home Security Systems as determined by (computer magazine)”
Many of the companies that pay for these ads, host the sites, and manage these lists don’t even have licenses in Arkansas or Oklahoma or have offices in the south. Many of the lists are compiled by computer suppliers/distributors that don’t specialize in security.
What makes a “best security system” or “best alarm company?”
1 – UL Listed or FM Approved (or both)
Underwriters Laboratories and Factory Mutual are voluntary standards that alarm companies can submit. UL visits our central station annually and not only inspects our monitoring facility, but also some of the certificated systems we’ve installed.  They test our central station operators, verify our paperwork to ensure testing of equipment throughout the year, and inspect systems to compliance with their strict codes. There are several insurance underwrites that will not write policies for their clients unless they have a UL certificated system.
Factory Mutual visits our central station every three years. They are similar to UL, except they ARE the insurance underwriter……so they are much more thorough. An FM Approved fire alarm system is usually required by customers that need the most reliable fire alarm system and service available.
Guard Tronic has been UL Listed since the mid-1970s and FM Approved for over a decade.
2 – Offices with service personnel close to you
Many companies have a single office in Arkansas, or maybe one in Little Rock and another in Northwest Arkansas.  Guard Tronic has four offices in Arkansas (Fort Smith, Springdale, Little Rock, and Forrest City) and two in Oklahoma (Muskogee and Del City). Each of these offices have multiple service technicians that respond to service needs 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
3 – Quality equipment
DIY systems are rife with system attacks. We have posted numerous articles and videos showing the security failures of their security systems and camera systems. Guard Tronic uses equipment that is UL Listed and American made (where possible). We have close relationships with our suppliers and vendors and work closely with them to help improve products and services.
Our systems are also incredibly easy to use.  We want to help our clients reduce false alarms and unnecessary service calls, so our systems are easy to use, even for the most technologically challenged user.
4 – Trained personnel
All of our technicians are licensed by the state they work in, and highly trained. In fact, several of our employees provide the licensing training for other alarm companies. In addition to the state required training, we also host vendor training on a semi-annual basis to ensure our sales personnel and technicians are up-to-date on the latest technology.
Guard Tronic also employs NICET certified and NFPA certified personnel to design the most complicated of fire alarm systems.
5 – Price
Guard Tronic doesn’t strive to be the cheapest….just the best.  However, we are often the least expensive proposal submitted. We would love for you to let us submit a quote for your next project. Security systems start at $425.00 install and just $12.95/month for monitoring. Four camera systems start at $1,200.00.
6 -Contract
Many companies, especially DIY companies, will claim that they do not use contracts…but they do. (An example of this is Simpli-Safe and their Terms of Service). All quality alarm companies use contracts. Guard Tronic is proud to state that we DO use contracts….because they protect both you, the end user, and us. They are available on our web-site, and we invite you to review it before calling for a quote.
7 – History
Quality security companies likely didn’t start yesterday. They have had years to perfect their craft.  Guard Tronic has been in the electronic security business for 60+ years and remain a family owned business. We have never been bought or sold.
8 – Monitoring
Guard Tronic is one of the few alarm companies that still owns and operates our own central station.  Most alarm companies subcontract their monitoring to facilities far away (some as far away as India). They have no control over the operators, products, or services that monitoring facility uses.  Guard Tronic has 100% control over our central station. We invite you to come visit our UL Listed / FM Approved Central Station in Fort Smith, AR.
From a basic burglary system to an integrated burg/fire/access control system with cameras, Guard Tronic can provide a life safety system designed for you.
