When designing and installing camera systems, the most common comment we get is:
“We need more cameras!”
It seems that no matter how many cameras you purchase, you will always be left wanting more.
Luckily, camera systems are very scalable. Four, eight, sixteen, and thirty-two camera package deals are more affordable than the sum of their components. Newer systems also have better resolution and more hard-drive space. Analytics are getting better and more affordable.
Our suggestion:
If you add sixteen cameras, install two eight-camera packages instead of a single sixteen camera system. If anything with the recorder goes wrong, you only lose eight cameras, and not all sixteen cameras. It will also make it easier to update the recorders and pay for the upgrade at different times.
All of those unrealistic surveillance goals we saw on CSI are closer than you think!
