Access control in its simplest form is a lock and key.  There are two big issues with a lock and key.
1 – There is no reporting or accountability.
2 – It becomes cost prohibitive to re-key all of the locks if a keyholder leaves and doesn’t return their key. If an employee leaves, simply de-program their credential.
Electronic access control is typically more expensive to install than just a lock. However, the cost savings over the course of ten years more than pays for the cost of the system, and you get the reporting capabilities, like who accessed and egressed your facility, through what door, how long they stayed, and which doors were accessed.
Because Guard Tronic’s access control system is integrated with the burglar and fire alarm systems, true integration can be achieved.  When a credential is presented, not only can the door unlock, but the alarm system can disarm. False dispatches to the police department are greatly reduced because the burglar alarm system is disarmed when the door is opened. The system will also automatically unlock if the fire alarm system is activated.
Temporary credentials can be issued for short-term employees and vendors.  Remote access may be given so you can give people access to your facility without having to respond with a key (this feature is NOT allowed if the access control system is integrated with the fire alarm system).
