Fort Smith regional manager, Jordon Brown, had an article that he helped create published in Security Sales & Integration today. The article was in response to an earlier article from Stan Martin of the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC), called “Barbarians at the Gate,” explaining how SIAC helps protect alarm companies from unwanted false alarm ordinances. Many of the False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA) Board of Directors felt that the article left the impression of an “us versus them” mentality.

The alarm representatives on the FARA Board that wrote the article wanted to stress that the best way to combat false alarms was to work together. Municipalities and reputable alarm companies all want to reduce false dispatches and provide a safer environment for our customers. This has become more difficult with the introduction of DIY and national communication companies into our industry.
